This JVM has the following Mods:

Choke Mod (Mercury Magnetics 10H); - Reduces noise in all channels
1959 Plexi Cap Mod; - Reduces squeals and glassiness at high gain
Negative Feedback Mod (see pics); - affects the power supply's power delivery for power tube breakup at lower volumes
Compression Reduction Mod; - Reduces compression within the amp - opens it up
Anti Stiffness Mod - Adds some sponge and sag to the stock amp

The negative feedback mod has introduced a potentiometer on the back of the amp that can be seen in image 15 and allows for you to sweep through the full range of feedback allowing for a variable power section response as follows;

47k - Late '60s Plexi
74k -- early '70s MkII Plexi
82k -- stock JVM
137k -- EVH's Plexi
176k -- JCM800 2203
177k+ -- a Marshall with almost a Vox's lack of headroom in the power amp


Essentially the negative feedback circuit connects the output signal back to an element of the input of the output stage. The variable resistor above, that is within this connection, effectively changes the amount of signal that is fed back. With higher resistance values, the JVM feels more organic and raw with less overall distortion. It gives the sound more 'bite'.

Overall the Mods have opened up the amp, tamed some of the criticisms of the factory JVM and when combined with the already 12 different gain stages, opens up even more versatility.
