SAEC WE-308 "Double Knife Edge" tonearm of the Japanese noble manufacture. The WE-308 was developed at that time to offer the new reference standard of tonearm technology for audiophile listeners and still meets the highest demands today.
The remarkable approach of the developer to the best possible sound realization of the vinyl resulted in the unique construction of the WE-308. This newer construction covers the disadvantages of conventional tonearms with normal knifebearings.
The knifeblades of the SAEC WE-308 have a thickness of less than 0.02mm (!) and are therefore more precise than all other knife bearings on the market. The edge is first machine-ground to 0.05mm and then trimmed by a skilled hand to 0.02mm for perfection. The Double Knife Edge thus offers the lowest friction and breakaway-torque of a tonearm ever achieved with such bearings.
The WE-308 follows the plate groove with minimal distortion with every high-quality pickup and reproduces a wide stage with precise placement of the instruments. The purity of sound when recording is phenomenal.
The SAEC WE-308 is a precision compensation arm. The three axes of the arm are carefully balanced so that practically no friction loss occurs. The fine adjustment of the tracking force is done automatically. This special tone arm, together with the low weight and the low-resonance "ultimate" headshell, ensures the highest possible fidelity of sound reproduction.
