Novi model Kindle Paperwhite donosi veći 6,8-inčni e-ink zaslon s mogućnošću podešavanja temperature boje svjetlosti, brži procesor, poboljšanu bateriju i USB-C priključak. Naime, osim što je zaslon za 0,8 inča veći od onog na prethodnom Paperwhite modelu, od promjena se ponajviše ističe poboljšana baterija koja će jednim punjenjem trajati čak 10 tjedana, što je značajan skok u usporedbi s onih šest kod prijašnje generacije uređaja. Iako je povećan zaslon na novom Paperwhiteu, također je smanjen okvir uređaja, pa se njegova veličina i nije toliko promijenila. Valja istaknuti da je gustoća od 300 PPI ostala ista kao i na prethodnom modelu, pa će tekst i dalje biti čitljiv i jasan. Poboljšano je i LED prednje osvjetljenje, pa će osvježeni Paperwhite ima 17, umjesto s pet LED žarulja.

Battery life
A single charge lasts up to 10 weeks, based on half an hour of reading a day with wireless off and the light setting at 13. Battery life will vary based on light settings and wireless usage. Audible audiobook streaming over Bluetooth will reduce battery life.

Charge time
Fully charges in approximately 5 hours from a computer via USB cable; fully charges in less than 2.5 hours with a 9 W USB power adaptor.

Wi-Fi connectivity
Supports 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz networks with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks.

Accessibility features
VoiceView screen reader, available over Bluetooth audio, provides spoken feedback allowing you to navigate your device and read books with text-to-speech (available in English only).
